Book review

Running with the wolves

I don’t know why the book hasn’t got the hype it deserves and hasn’t been made a movie.

I was so exhausted reading this book. I’m not much of a crier(its a word right?) while reading but I couldn’t bear with it and had to pause many times.

Wait. That’s not the way to start my review. Continuing formally.

*I got this ARC copy from the author’s Facebook group in exchange for my review.*

Rating : 5000/5

Author : J.E.Reed

Series : Running with the wolves

Goodreads summary

Ten realms will test everything.

For two years she led an alliance, forming bonds with people from around the world—but someone was watching. Chronopoint was only meant to be a game, until she found herself trapped in that world.

Fighting to survive, Kiuno discovers she’s not the only player who has been thrown into this strange land. Hideous, twisted monsters only seen in nightmares plague their every move. Untold powers lie at the hands of the chosen and flames dance at her fingertips.

Can Kiuno find the players from her alliance or will she be too late and discover death has taken far more than she ever imagined?

Trigger : Blood , Blood , death , more death

Remember how i told I was really exhausted , this one book made me mad , exhausted , drain out my soul.

I actually got this e-arc randomly and i got my soul ripped out in exchange (spoilers : this is a part of a duology which i will be trading my life for).

I really wanna thank you gayathri for bringing this book to many of our attention.

Reasons why I loved running with the wolves and you should too

  • World-building

There is a magic system which I hadn’t totally got a hold on but its awesome. The world wasn’t built so clearly but it literally was like playing a game.

There are many survival skills which we will need when we accidentally get sucked through hunger games or maze runner. ( Someone write a book on this please)

  • Characters

I loved kiuno and many others especially K.J and Maltack.

The character developments are so unique and amazing.

No one character is perfect there is no single villain and complex characters and surprise everywhere.

  • Twists and turns

I loved and adored how the author pushes us through every word and manages that many twists.

There are no single twist which was expected and i for one who guesses more plot twists was caught off guard.

  • Gaming

Kiuno is a gamer and leads an alliance in Chronopoint and eventually meets many fellow gamers.

I’m not much of a group gamer but I have many online friends who I personally consider family . I suppose anyone who reads this has. This book speaks to us closer this way.

  • Ending

I didn’t realise there was one. There were many unanswered questions in the beginning which grew , and grew and the book sort of ended. I hate when it happens.

I won’t say this is the perfect book because no such book exists. So some of the cons stuff now.

  • Kiuno was so much of a marshmallow at heart for her own good.
  • Kiuno isn’t mature at all for a legal adult. She’s married and though there were no explicit mention of age , we can presume she’s 23-25 . But she is written like a 15 year old.

That’s all for this one guys. Hope you enjoyed my review. This review is linked with lovely books audio.

  1. This sounds so good! It definitely seemed to have a “Hunger Games” sort of feel to it. And, as a huge gamer, I can’t say no to a game based book!
I don’t like the sound of the ending though… I don’t like to be left with unanswered questions… Especially if it’s a standalone book…

  2. Great review! I haven’t read many books about gaming, but I’ll definitely check it out. I usually am put off by characters that are written to act differently than their age, to be honest. I’m glad you enjoyed this book!
