Ghost Squad review – Paranormal Dominican Middle grade

For Lucely Luna, ghosts are more than just the family business.
Shortly before Halloween, Lucely and her best friend, Syd, cast a spell that accidentally awakens malicious spirits, wreaking havoc throughout St. Augustine. Together, they must join forces with Syd’s witch grandmother, Babette, and her tubby tabby, Chunk, to fight the haunting head-on and reverse the curse to save the town and Lucely’s firefly spirits before it’s too late.

Did I tell you how excited I was for ghost squad since the day it was announced???

I’m not really a paranormal fantasy fan in any age group. But , you gotta start somewhere right?

When Claribel announced her latinx paranormal fantasy with a pitch , “Coco meets Ghostbusters” , I jumped right in!!!

Now let’s jump to the review

Ghost Squad follows Lucile , while she finds a way to help her dad keep their business . She seeks out her friend’s help and accidentally awaken the dead.

The book in one word , was, ” moving “. No offence for this fun book , but the topics and themes covered grieving , paranormal and healing.

The characters were incredible! The Cat chunk , lucile’s friend Syd , Syd’s grandma , everyone were amazing and incredibly supportive.

I got my long term wish through this book too! Adults going on the missions with the protagonists and having fun! (*Stares at Albus Dumbledore*)

The ghost part was incredibly atmospheric , which made me scared a couple times through the book. A couple intense scenes of paranormality will definitely satisfy the paranormal fans!

This is not an ownvoice review!

I thank all the ARC gods , Edelweiss and Scholastic press for this ARC!!!

Happy living
