Book review

August Ended and I got terribly sick which made into a great August for my ARCs

Hey guys , so you might not have known this. I’ve been pretty sick and had to take some time off college for almost the whole August?! I don’t remember going to college for more than 10 days.

Being sick sucked . But I reduced my pile from 28 ARCs to 15 ARCs at the end of the month. A lot of DNFs and pretty good reads.

I posted only 4 times because typing itself was hard while dealing with hand cramps. So..

Read

The twelve by Cindy Lin came to my attention after CW tweeted about it . It was an impulse request during my reading slump and read it after a month of it’s release.

The Twelve was an awesome read. It’s about Usagi who lives in aftermath of the great war which brought her island under the control of a tyrant dragonlord. While Usagi is keen on keeping her sister and their identities safe , her sister is being taken away. How long will she go to rescue her sister?

Review to come.

I was offered this copy by the author during sometime June and got into this book in August. While it turned out to be a pretty great read , I gave it ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ 4 stars.

I requested this book and got it from NetGalley and it was really awesome. I paused it somewhere around 25 percent and picked it up again which is the best decision I’ve made in quite a while.

Review to come.

I got this ARC as soon as it was displayed in Edelweiss and was honestly scared to pick up. I buddy read it with Sepia and I fiished it after her.

Natalie was in my hands for a really long time. I finally picked it up while struggling to survive Dragon Republic.

Natalie tan was a wholesome read with a lot of food.

I downloaded it in Edelweiss right after I finished Dragon Republic. This is the first Jasmine Guillory book I’ve read and it was great.

Wedding party had my all time favorite tropes , the MCs had actual careers and concentrated on them , enemies to lovers written good.

I got this copy from the author (because I can never get enough of Ronaldo) . This was a nice read too.

I got approved for this ARC in Edelweiss and if I may , this is the best ends ever. The end was wholesome and heart wrenching at the same time. The people who followed the series would know what to expect . But it was so hurting at the same time.

I got this book after Shadowglass to get over Shadowglass and it did not work well. I had too much unpopular opinions about this one and it’s safe to say that the writing of Jasmine has definitely improved with every book.

I read this one for a blog tour and my review will be out in two weeks. I didn’t like Gilded King.. but I get it why it didn’t.

And my final read for August. Pride and Prejudice has been in my long term permaent recommendations and I’ve finally read it and looooooooooved it.

TBR for September

    1. I’ve just started with There will come a darkness and I have high hopes!!!! Natalie IS worth the hype. The hype was what made me pick it up slow too. But it was so worth it. I’ll keep a look out for your opinions on Nat! Thanks for reading my post DB

      1. What’s interesting is that my library says the book will be released January next year?? (of Natalie) – so I might have to buy it – not that I mind buying it because it’s such a gorgeous cover!

I’m now a little scared to read The Gilded King for the blog tour…[I always read last-minute lol] but I love that you had such a wide array of amazing books to read! My August felt a bit meh but I did adore Kingdom of Souls, The Girl the Sea Gave Back and A Spark of White Fire

    1. Gilded king worked for a lot of readers Haley. I had some specific issues how the author handled stuff. So , I hope you’ll love it. I’ve heard a lot good things about Kingdom of Souls. I loved A spark of white!!! Be ready with a bunch of tissues for House of Rage and Sorrow. Happy reading Haley
