Review

β€œTrust your enemies little,” it whispered, β€œand trust your friends even less.”

The final instalment from Rin Chupeco for her amazing epic fantasy series Bone witch.

To venerate women, they said, is to diminish men. How one can lead to the other is a question they have not yet answered

I’ve loved this series and hated myself enough for not picking it up sooner. And the final book was magical and satisfying as hell .

World Building

Rin almost outdone herself by the world building with all the 7 kingdoms. The details of the Icy Istera to Desert kingdom of Drychta , Majestic world building . If you’re reading this review after reading the first two books , you already know the details she puts in the beasts fighting which was so much graphic and mind-blowing.

Relationships.

Rin is the first author I’ve read to handle the platonic , romantic and sibling relationship this well without one dominating the other.

Writing

Never the wiser so that I could never be the fool.

I really don’t know how to express my experience of being blown away and being stabbed all along the way with words. The plot was twisted and as usual , it was hard to guess and blew up in our face.

More over , I loved Tea. I watched her grow up from being a little girl who loved Asha adventure books and loved her family , to the savior of the world . This is a moment worth taking for Rin’s writing and completion of the character Arcs. There were a lot of representations including a lesbian relationship , a pan relationship and several noteworthy platonic relationships.

I will save the kingdoms, and I will save you in the process, and maybe I will save the bits and pieces of myself that need rescuing too.

The ending was satisfying for me. Nevertheless I was hurt. But it was so much satisfying to see Tea take a right decision after so many clumsy ones. Tea had no regrets in the end .. I can’t tell any more without spoilers but read this amazing book.
