For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
I read this book within hours and it was awesome. I haven’t read young adult for the past year so I loved it. And the writing was good.
The story happens in America after fourth world war where America is dependant on China . Some review even say the future might end up like that.
America singer “mer” is the narrator and protagonist of the story. She is focused short tempered sweet and has more self respect.
I need to be here. My family needs me to be here. Even if you could let me stay for a week, that would be a blessing for them.
I fell in love with maxon. He is awesome motivated ambitious and not at all self – centered.
“I’ve felt that way more than once myself. But you must admit, it is a very beautiful cage.”
I really wanted to punch this guy in his face ( i would probably end wrist broken if i did) . He is the love of America before selection .
“Yes. A mother couldn’t ask for a better son. He’s supportive, and he works so hard.”
Silvia is one of the officials in the palace and i really adored her professional manner.
May is this great extrovert little sister almost everyone have at their home. And I loved her so much .
And ofcourse you will come across another character who u will get irritated at .
Where is the story happening ?
The future of America is a mess and it has 8 castes . The castes are named after numbers in the ascending order starting one as royal family upto eight as the end of food chain and they starve. There are rebels and their focus is so less since the story moves on with mer’s perspective. I really wanna have more of the rebels in the upcoming books.
Who should read this?
Those who love
- Young adult
This books is totally not the typical dystopian type . If u read this expecting the action packed dystopian you would be thoroughly disappointed.
